  1. Ooops saw your msg only now,

First I should say that the goal behind this design is to mitigate an inherent limitation in guitars: not to be able to produce strong fundamental tone on the few first notes, and a general lack of power which shows when one tries to play non-amplified with a few other acoustic instruments. The goal is not to “replace” the traditional design or its sound but to propose an alternative that takes advantage of the new possibilities opened by modern materials like Nomex and graphite, as well as modern acoustical design.

Generally speaking, the box air resonance frequency drops when the sound-hole is moved away from the centre, so stronger basses can be achieved if other aspects of the guitar are adapted to take advantage of it.
Also, another benefit is to be able to use a bigger area of the top as an active vibrating surface which can give more power and sustain to the entire spectrum.
On this model for example the bonus top surface that is active amounts to over 30%. That a 30% bigger “loud speaker” to produce sound without making the guitar bigger. But that alone doesn’t necessarily give better result, it has to be part of a whole design.
